Once again seeking some help with tariffs.
Letter sent from Lisbon on 23.10.1855 to the free city of Hamburg. Transit marks of Badajoz 25.10.1855, St. Jean de Luz 31.10.1855 and Paris 2.11.1855. Arrival at 4.11.1855 with circular mark from the TuT postal office.
In Portugal the 50 réis paid the second internal rate for a letter between 3/8 and 5/8. At this time, Hamburg had offices from different postal administrations including the one from TuT which among other things served the 4 free cities according to the postal convention between France and TuT from 11.9.1844 and listed in Tableau n.1 États d’Allemagne directemente desservis par les postes de le Prince de TuT.
If I am not mistaken, according to the Articles additionnels à la Convention de poste du 11 september 1844, conclus entre la France et l’Office des Postes féodales d’Allemagne, 22.11.1847:
Art. 40 – L’Administration des postes de la Tour et Taxis payer également à l’administration des postes de France la somme d’un franc vingt centimes par trente grammes, poids net, pour prix du transit sur le territoire français des letters originaires de l’Espagne, du Portugal et de Gibraltar destinées pour États d’Allemagne et les États du Nord mentionnées dans il article precedent.
Any idea what are the 21 schilling written in red referring to? Or could be 210 sch.?
I think 16 schilling were equal to 12 Pfennig which was equal to 0.123 Fr. On the other hand, if 21 refers to 210 schilling it would be equivalent to 1Fr60 which was what a Prussia had to pay to France for a letter coming from Portugal according to art. 61 from Postal convention between France and Prussia from 11.08.1847 . However, the arrival circular mark refers to TuT and red crayon are indicative of TuT.
